A photographer friend, Christopher Oates, spotted this on the streets of New York City on Sunday while out at PrideFest. Now, I know the last one of these scorned-lover paint jobs turned out to be a publicity stunt, but I’m guessing this one isn’t.

The use of the term “fuckboy” is usually frowned upon in the advertising world. Well, I don’t know that for sure, but it’s a good guess. I just don’t see that idea being green-lit by someone. But this Lotus was already defaced by some obnoxious advertising, so maybe it’s a stunt. Either way, shead a tear for this poor Lotus as it’s been a victim of two defacings.

UPDATE: I found their Instagram account.
It looks like they set their Instagram account to private not too long after I posted their pic here. I did, however, get a screen shot.

I think it might be advertising? Why would they write hoe in the same spots on either side of the rear? Seems a little too consistent for vitriolic rage. As well, it seems like there’s ads for some sort of drink company on the side, and having those on the side of a car if this went viral might be a big plus for business.

Hmmm. ‘fuck8oy’ and ‘hoe’, one associated with a male and one associated with a female. Also convenient advertising on the rear quarters of the car.
What’s the bets ‘H2O Nemos’, gets a massive number of web hits while people try to find a picture of the owner with the car.

My first hit on google for H20_Nemos is an instagram account that’s been taken down. There wasn’t a whole lot else. If there isn’t much for a web presence on any thing else on the car, I guess this tagging is the real deal.

The drink thing seems to be some sort of possibly illegal, homemade frozen alcoholic beverage that gets sold on the street or out of shady stores.

Definitely a publicity stunt. In addition to what others have been saying, no rich person, especially with a Lotus, comes out to their recently-defaced car and thinks, “Oh no! That’s the only car I have! I have no choice but to drive it and then park it in a highly visible place! Woe is me!”
It’s cute but yeah there’s no way this isn’t a publicity stunt.

I’m sure you could buff that off without doing much damage to the clear. And even if stripping the clear was Needed, it’s not like it needs a whole new paint job. Slight wet sanding an applying a new layer or two of clear could take car of it.
But I'm not a professional painter. Just speculation.
